Panthers win the league

Chesterfield Panthers 1st XV have been crowned league champions - the first time in 25 years - after a 83-0 victory over Keyworth RUFC on Saturday 5th April.

The previous week Amber Valley RUFC was deducted five points in the league table leaving Panthers the task of securing a victory against Keyworth to secure the title of league champions.

With the exception of a draw against Amber Valley on 25th January, the mighty Panthers have won every game this season.

A delighted captain Steven Avenier said: "We have been waiting six months for this moment. Our pre-season coaching and technical training has paid off. I couldn't have asked for anything more from a group of 15 players on the pitch. It was a true team effort. We are all delighted."

The crowing as league champions and promotion to Midlands 3 East (North) has cemented Chesterfield Panthers' successful first season at their new £1.8m home ground at Dunston Road in Chesterfield.
